Residential Conversion

Redesigning A Private Residence With A Fresh And Modern Touch

Project Summary

We’re proud to upgrade this beautiful family home into a Private Residence with a modern and elegant feel.
As we move into modernisation and upgrades, preserving the history and culture of this family home is very important to us as a practice.
  • Location: Perne Road, Cambridge
  • Sector: Residential Conversion
  • Construction Costs: £150,000
  • Size: 1291.67 sqft
  • Status: Work In Progress
  • Architect: Windsorpatania architects
  • Partners: Quadrant Building Control, Redstone Engineers

Current Situation

The property in its current state is a 3 bedroom double reception semi-detached family house.
The property is located just off the famous Mill Road and can be accessed from Perne Road.
It’s composed of a ground floor living space – kitchen with extension, 2 receptions and a first floor consisting of 3 bedrooms.
The rear of the property faces the existing garden, offering a high-quality space with pleasant views
The project aims to take advantage of this space and maximise its benefits whilst enlarging the space to accommodate the family’s needs.

Private Residence

Rear extension:

A new open plan living/dining space will be created via the erection of a brand-new rear extension.

Side extension:

As part of the rear extension, there will also be more space toward the side to accommodate multiple uses of the space

Loft conversion:

We discussed enlarging the roof with a hip to a gable loft conversion to get the space for another bedroom with an en-suite in the roof area.

Several rear dormers in the area are commonly used to accommodate more bedrooms.

Private Residence

Parking spaces:

The new scheme maintains its front driveway area where there is space for one car to be parked.

However, the client has also discussed that they are happy to pave the whole front garden to accommodate an additional car.

Bike spaces:

Bike access to the property may be needed, in which case a side gate may be helpful to avoid moving bikes through the house.

Currently, they are stored next to the garage.

The property may benefit from allocated bike parking space behind the gate, which can only be accessed by a security code system
